The problem with your stance, insofar as LGBT memebrs are concerned, is that the National Organization sets the standard for the entire organization. If individual units/councils differ, then the continuity of message/mission of the organization becomes muddled.

As for your stance on scouts with disabilities, in my over 10 years in Scouting as an adult, I know of no policy that restricts or prohibits kids with disabilities (my memories of my youth has no reference, but I recall no exclusions). I find it curious why your unit specifically call out accepting something that is not an issue.

You are correct, there are a lot of things that "may" happen and there are a lot of things that may not happen. We have the support of the local Northern Star council and are an officially chartered BSA Troop and Pack.

We cannot change the politics of the National BSA and we have very limited influence over the local council. All we can do is provide the best program we can for the youth and do our best to include anyone who is interested.

Inclusion is all well and good, but just as there are membership rules in every organization, the National BSA organization may revoke your authority to operate under their banner.
