video 300x205 Jewish Film Contest Seeking the Next SpielbergHere is your excuse to buy a new video camera, to show your parents that you really are movie star quality, or to debut your writing on a national stage. The national Jewish Film Comp 2010 is looking for submissions.

Winners get $500. Selected films will be shown at Jewlicious Festival and Jewish Film Festivals around the world. Oh, and did I mention it was free to enter and Hollywood filmmakers review your tape? Yeah, seems like it’s worth a shot.

The Jewish Film Competition is intended to promote and encourage the use of film and animation to explore and articulate the scope, humor and complexities of Judaism, Jewish Identity and/or the Jewish Experience. Thanks to Jewlicious for tipping us off to the contest. Here’s all the info you need, thanks to the Jewish Film Comp 2010 website:

Enter a short film on a Jewish subject and you could win $500.

This nationwide film competition is for young, “amateur status”* filmmakers . All films will be eligible for the the Grand Prize, 2nd place and 3rd place. Winners will be chosen by a panel of veteran filmmakers from Hollywood and New York. Selected films will be shown at Jewlicious Festival and Jewish Film Festivals around the world.

COST: FREE! – limit one film per filmmaker.

ELIGIBILITY: Films up to 30 min. in length.

* Principal filmmaker must not be a working professional in the field.
* Entrant must be aged 18-26 during the Jewlicious Festival.
* Film’s subject must pertain to Judaism, Jewish Identity or the “Jewish Experience”

PRIZES: $500 prize for winner or trip to festival, plus 2nd and 3rd Place prizes

ENTRY: Submissions will be accepted until Midnight, February 11th, 2010.

1. Send an email to JewishFilmCompetition@gmail.com with “REGISTER” in the headline.

2. In the body of the email, put your name, email address and film title.
