The Youth Director will work with a youth board, adult advisory committee and a committed group of adolescents in sustaining and growing the synagogue’s youth program. The Youth Director supervises a part time Kadima advisor and reports to Rabbi Lynn Liberman, Director of Congregational Learning.

Requirements:

  • Ruach, Enthusiasm and Vision
  • Strong Judaic Background
  • Experience with and passionate about working with Jewish teenagers
  • Creative program planning skills
  • Good leadership and communication skills
  • Effective organizational skills
  • Keen ability to work with social media
  • Self-directed, excellent work ethic
  • Strong commitment to Israel and Israel Programming
  • Serving as a role model for Jewish living and learning
  • Possessing outstanding personal integrity
  • Bachelors Degree required
  • Personal experience with Jewish youth in synagogues, youth groups, camping, Hillel, JCC or Israel, or similar entities strongly preferred

The Youth Director is a full-time position and includes medical benefits.  Salary competitive.

Beth Jacob is a Conservative synagogue of approximately 350 families located in Mendota Heights, Minnesota (a suburb of St Paul). We are taught that the world rests on three things: Torah, Avodah, and Gemilut Hasadim (Pirkei Avot, 1:2). Beth Jacob is a congregational community committed to these three fundamental principles of Judaism. BJUSY has received numerous regional awards including synagogue chapter of excellence, best overall program, and chapter of the year. BJUSY has had leading youth programs in which 3 of the last 6 regional presidents have been from our congregation.  BJUSY has had a regional board member for the last 7 years.
