During a job search, it’s common to hear the phrase “It’s not what you know, it’s who you know.” And there’s a reason for that.

Sure, you need to have a skill set that fits the bill, but knowing someone on the inside—or knowing someone who knows someone—can be the key to landing an interview.

LinkedIn has revolutionized the playing field, emphasizing that connections are paramount. Talking face-to-face, though, increases your chances of a career-enhancing connection.

Here’s some good news for you: An young adults event on Monday, July 25, from 6-8 p.m. could become your “in” to finding a job or making a career change. Another piece of good news: Beer will be involved.

Join Career Initiatives, a program of Jewish Family and Children’s Service of Minneapolis, for “Beers and Careers” at Pinstripes (3849 Gallagher Drive, Edina) on the 25th!

You can network, mingle and learn while enjoying a pale ale or whatever suits your fancy. The night will include a panel of peers who have been successful in identifying their career paths.

RSVP here and move forward on your career path. The cost for the evening, including drinks and appetizers, is just $5 in advance and $10 at the door. Don’t forget to share this info with fellow 20- and 30-somethings!
