Very well written and considered. Matisyahu’s story, because it’s such a public one, is in many ways the epitome of the identity crisis most Jews feel, and a great model for identity crises across the board. He may not see it this way, but it’s an incredibly brave thing he’s doing, abandoning at least the look (if not the whole persona) of what propelled him to notoriety.
