Fellow Jews,

I am the only one who is at all troubled by such a confident invocation of God on so specific a proposition?

For me this disquietude is not about immigration reform (as an immigrant and an immigration lawyer I’m generally for it), but about this kind of invocation of God.

I find it hard to believe that God’s Plan includes something like: “Point …439023482308. HR ### must pass U.S. Congress.”

I don’t think it’s seemly to claim to know God’s mind like that. I agree with Abraham Lincoln, who cautioned that, instead of claiming God on our side, we should be anxious about whether we’re on God’s side.
