In this week’s Jewish news: the National Jewish Sports Hall of Fame honors its first wrestler; Jon Gosselin’s rabbi considers a run for office; more offensive tactics by Ahmadenijad; a debate on gays and Orthodox Judaism and more. Shavua Tov. Have a great week!

1. Bill Receive Jewish honour – UK Sun. Bill Goldberg will be the first pro wrestler inducted into the National Jewish Sports Hall of Fame in New York. “Goldberg once famously said: “I’m a 6-foot-4, 290-pound Jewish kid having his name chanted by thousands of people and yeah, I think that’s funny.” Yes, that picture is Bill Goldberg – now that’s an awesome looking Jew.

2. A Health Reform Headache – JPost. An interesting Op-ed comparing Israel and America’s health system’s (and the U.S.’s proposal in the works.

3. Ahmadinejad pushing to separate sexes – JPost. In case you needed another reason to hate this anti-Semitic bastard.

4. Op-ed: Gadhafi in my Backyard – JTA. Rabbi to the Stars Schmuley Boteach opines on his opposition to Libya’s ambassador to the United Nations, Abdurrahman Mohamed Shalgham, moving in and taking up residence as his immediate next-door neighbor. Rabbi Schmuley is now considering a run for office as a result.

5. Fallout from Gay Debate rocks YU – Jpost. Yeshiva University hosted a forum on Being Gay in an Orthodox world a week ago, and the backlash heated up this week with a counter-event condemning homosexuality. Read more about the original event here or here ( with the original forum’s transcript).

6. Saving Yeshiva High – Pioneer Press. An Orthodox Jewish high school in Cottage Grove that is unique in the country may close after just 4 years if it can’t raise enough cash by Feb. 1st.
