Rabbi Ricky Kamil had been a pulpit rabbi in the Chicago suburbs while also working as a community organizer on social justice issues. So when he moved to Minneapolis, it was apparently only natural that he take on multiple roles. Kamil is a congregational organizer for Beacon Interfaith Housing Collaborative, a part-time organizing rabbi at Temple Israel, and the first rabbi to be a chaplain in the Minnesota Army National Guard. We talk about what brought him to the chaplaincy, his work in community organizing, and how organizing animates his Judaism, on this week’s Who The Folk?! Podcast.
