Job Summary/Description:

This is an approximately 30 hour a week position (including Religious School hours) that oversees the operations of Bet Shalom’s PreK-8th Grade Religious School. This position works closely with the Associate Rabbi to fulfill, contribute to, and further the vision of the school.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to:

-Supervise, participate in hiring, observe, support, develop relationships with, and provide professional development for Religious School Teachers and Madrichim

-Develop relationships with students through time spent in the classroom

-Develop relationships with parents through regular communication

-Work with Director of Shaarim and on-site Shaarim instructors to provide necessary support for students with special needs

-Work with Youth Administrative Assistant, Main Office Administrative Assistant, and volunteers in preparation of materials, set up requests, database management, teacher and madrichim payroll, Religious School calendar, and other curricular needs

-Partner with Education Committee by attending meetings and contributing as appropriate

-Work with Associate Rabbi in overseeing Religious School budget, grant applications, and reports for Minneapolis Jewish Federation

-Oversee Madrichim program, including leading weekly professional development sessions

-Work with Associate Rabbi to prepare for each upcoming school year, including student and madrichim placement, development of calendar and special programs, curriculum enhancement, and parent and teacher communication

-Oversee and run Shanah Tovah Club, Bet Shalom’s High Holy Day Youth program

Experience and Qualification Requirements:

-Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in the field of Education

-Minimum of three years experience in the field of Education, preferably in a classroom setting

-Experience in management and supervision

-Passion for Jewish Education and commitment to furthering the values and vision espoused by Bet Shalom Congregation

-Friendly and welcoming presence and an ability to connect with both children and adults

-Comfort and experience with professional development, conflict resolution, problem solving, and providing constructive feedback

-Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written

-Ability to read Hebrew

-Competent in use of Google Application Suite
