Position Summary:
This position is responsible for actively engaging K-4th grade students in Shabbat programming. BESTY program staff are responsible for implementing predetermined programming, lessons, and activities for students. The ideal candidate works well with young children in high-energy environments and models positive leadership skills to students and teen staff.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee K-4th graders during Shabbat morning services (9 a.m.-noon)
- Lead predetermined group activities on Shabbat morning during the school year (30 sessions/year) for K-4th graders
- Works regularly with Beth El teen staff
- Serve as a role model for students
- Other duties as assigned
- Additional opportunities to work holidays as listed:
- Rosh Hashanah (day 1 and 2)
- Yom Kippur (KN, YK, NI)
- Sukkot (day 1, 2, 7 and 8)
- Pesach (day 1, 2, 7, and 8)
- Shavuot (day 1 and 2)
Experience and Qualifications Requirements:
- History of working with young students
- Knowledge of basic Jewish traditions and practices
- Desired experience with or willingness to lead services for K-4th graders
