December Get The Folk Out

Greetings Minneapolis & Saint Paul! It is the most wonderful time of the year once again, and December has a ton in store for your enjoyment! This month is a doozy – with over a dozen events to enjoy – so GTFO (Get The Folk Out) and enjoy what the Twin Cities Jewish community has to offer.

Beth-El Young Adult Winter Shabbat ($11)

December 1 @ 5:45-8:15 p.m.

If you’re looking for a fun way to welcome Shabbat, this event has it all! Wine, beer, and food – plus the company of some awesome people! Beth-El membership NOT required.

Or Emet Presents – How We Can Face the Future Without Fear, Together: A Discussion (Free)

December 3 @ 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Exercise that brain muscle with an intellectual discussion as Or Emet will host Dave Zukor, who will lead a discussion around the TED Talk, “How We Can Face the Future Without Fear, Together” by Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks.

Miracles: An Afternoon of Jewish Arts and Learning ($18 for Young Adults)

December 3 @ 1 p.m.-5 p.m.

Do you like making art (even if you’re terrible at it)? Do you like challenging questions like, “are miracles real?” Then join Hineni at the St. Paul JCC for this event!

An Evening with Matisyahu ($25)

December 5 @ 5:30-10 p.m.

Enjoy EXCLUSIVE access to a pre-show Happy Hour and the Sound Check. During the show you’ll have access to EXCLUSIVE drink specials and a special viewing area. Regular admission and attendance to the Happy Hour is all that’s required to join. Email [email protected] with any questions.

25th Annual Women’s Art Festival (Free)

December 9 – All day

Looking for something free to do on Saturday? Come check out this event! Food trucks, art, and live music – what more could you need?

In the Shadow of the Acropolis (Free)

December 9 @ 10-11:30 a.m.

Take advantage of a free screening of the film followed by a discussion with the filmmaker herself! The film tells the story of Greek Jews during the Holocaust. Sponsored by Or Emet.

Hannukah: The Festival of Lights ($30)

December 10 @ 2-4 p.m.

Paint yourself into the holiday with this event @ Pinot’s Pallette.

B’Yachad Gift Delivery – Jewish Family Services (Free)

They’ve been collecting for months, now it’s time to deliver the goods… literally! Join JFS to deliver gifts, supplies, and foodstuffs to families and organizations in need. This and additional volunteer opportunities are available at the link above.

Light Up the Night (Free)

In lieu of Makom’s Third Friday, Adath’s Young Adult Group is Lighting Up the Night!
