A Look at Current Challenges to Freedom of Religion

Or Emet will offer a program examining the way our present government is deliberately undermining freedom of religion. The First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, in the Bill of Rights, allows citizens the freedom to practice any religion of their choice, but prevents the government from officially recognizing or favoring any religion.

A panel of experts, moderated by Or Emet member Allan Malkis, will discuss the current assault on religious freedom.

Allan Malkis is a long time Or Emet member. He has been a researcher at various non-profit and public agencies in the Twin Cities. He has a Master’s degree in sociology from the University of Minnesota and is currently a half-time researcher with Ramsey County.

Or Emet adult programs are free and open to the public, and meet concurrently with the Jewish Cultural School at the St. Paul Talmud Torah, 768 Hamline Avenue South. http://www.ttsp.org/directions/
