Author Talk: Crooked Lines: A Single Mom’s Jewish Journey
AUTHOR JENNA ZARK IN CONVERSATION WITH BETH FRIEND
When you part company with the life you’ve been living and have to start a new one, what do you do? Jenna Zark didn’t expect to be divorced. She didn’t expect to be a single mom – but when her son was three, that’s exactly what happened. After moving from New York to the Twin Cities because of her former husband’s job as a cantor at a synagogue, she knew very few people outside the synagogue. The idea of starting over was terrifying. Yet, there is a saying that God paints in crooked lines when leading us to the people we were meant to meet. This book was born of the journey.
Crooked Lines will be available for purchase and Jenna is available for signing afterward. Light snacks and refreshments will be provided.
Zark’s book is the first-prize winner of the Overcoming Adversity/Tragedy Memoir category in the 2023 Next Generation Indie Book Awards, the world’s largest book awards program for independent publishers and self-published authors.
Other awards and honors received by Crooked Lines include the following:
- Silver Award in the Religious/Spiritual Category from the Nautilus Book Awards
- Bronze award in the Personal Adult Non-fiction category from the Independent Publisher Book Awards
- First prize in Parenting/Family Category from the Firebird Award
- Honorable Mention from the Eric Hoffer Book Awards
- Finalist in the Adult Nonfiction category from the Wishing Shelf Awards
