Centering Torah in Social Justice

Together, we’ll integrate the spiritual as a wholly central component in the physical fight for social justice. Spiritual integration is a critical component that connects us to Jewish values and HaShem, the source of power greater than ourselves and our own devices, in order to lead in our justice work from a place that is more visionary, creative, sustainable, and grounded.

Moving from the inspiration of the 40 Days of Teshuvah action, we’ll ground in the particular injustices we’re each working to transform; look to Torah, the Jewish calendar, and Jewish traditions for direction and inspiration; and brainstorm how the key themes and spiritual tools from Torah study and Jewish tradition can form the foundation of direct actions to dismantle the systems of oppression we’re fighting. We’re strengthening our people power by moving beyond the limitations of the physical, transforming our community.

Focusing on your social justice issue of choice, join peer individual and community leaders in dreaming and planning powerful direct actions in the lead up to Tisha B’Av. We encourage you to come to this event with fellow organizers and co-conspirators to move this important work forward.

Closed captioning will be available. Reach out to Sam at [email protected] for any questions or accessibility needs. We look forward to seeing you there!
