Community Visioning Session—Increasing the Number of Kids at Camp

Join us for a two-hour, interactive session where we’ll envision the future where every child in our community can experience Jewish camp.

Through a series of fast-paced and collaborative exercises, we will explore the question:

How can we maximize the number of children in our community experiencing Jewish camp?

Notice that this topic is not about specific camps, costs, programs, or retention rates—those are up to the experts… the camps themselves.

Instead, we’re taking a community-wide view on increasing camp participation, which research continuously shows is a cornerstone of a positive Jewish identity. To take this community-wide perspective we might consider:

  • The diversity of experiences, touchpoints, and opportunities available for campers

  • What are the systemic barriers to participation, and what steps we can take to lower them

  • How to enable community-based camps to be the healthiest possible version of themselves

  • Methods to build closer relationships across community organizations, with camping as a point of connection

This workshop is open to the entire community: families, campers, camp professionals, board members, clergy, and donors.
