An event every month that begins at 6:30pm on day Third of the month, repeating indefinitely
Never experienced Shabbat? Addicted to challah since you were a kid? Ours is made from scratch. Shabbat is a magical time. It’s how it all began a long, long time ago after six full days of creation in Genesis and more recently for us as Makom. On a cold Hanukkah night in December 2012, 40+ people gathered in a loft in downtown Minneapolis to celebrate Shabbat and Makom was born. We play with old and new traditions at Third Fridays…
Makom, the Hebrew word for space, strives to be a young vibrant community for down-to-earth Judaism. Connecting the spark of each person to the warmth of community, we believe Judaism can be a source of light wherever you are on your journey.
Whether connecting with friends for drinks or relaxing by one of Minnesota’s 10,000 lakes, sharing a Shabbat meal, engaging in social justice, soulful prayer or study, Makom creates space to feel more connected to life– to our questions, curiosity, and excitement for what is possible in the Twin Cities and our world. Makom is a project of Adath Jeshurun Congregation. All are welcome regardless of affiliation.
