Jewish Teens Sing! HaZamir Open House

Join Jewish Teens from around the Twin Cities to make beautiful music. Any teens who can carry a tune are invited to try out the group this spring, and explore making music with other teens.

HaZamir Minneapolis-St. Paul will begin meeting on Sunday afternoons this fall. HaZamir is a great Jewish education opportunity for incoming 9-12 graders; participants learn Jewish culture, songs in Hebrew, and make great friends. Chapters around North America and Israel learn the same repertoire, and then meet to sing all together at Lincoln Center in New York City in March 2023!

We’ll meet weekly on Sunday afternoons starting in the fall, but this open house is simply to meet, sing, and check out this group!

I hope those of you whose children have not had much Jewish education will head them our way; it’s a great entry into a community of diverse Jewish backgrounds. No prior Hebrew knowledge is required; everything is in transliteration and they’ll learn a ton from this group.

I hope those of you whose kids have had strong Jewish learning will head your kids our way; the music is sophisticated liturgy and culture, and an opportunity for further Jewish education.

To our BIPOC kids — yes! Join us, whether you have a strong Jewish educational background, no formal Jewish education, and anything in between.

Yes, this is LGBTQ+ friendly! This organization has tons of participants who identify in this group. Yes, come from whichever Jewish denomination you are or aren’t part of. Music is transcendent!

Our plan is to sing outside and if so, masking will be optional and we’ll distance accordingly. If we are inside we’ll be masked.

Message [email protected] for the location, which will be at Director Wendy Goldberg’s home in St. Louis Park.
