THE U.S. AND THE HOLOCAUST Advanced Screening

A new documentary by Ken Burns, Lynn Novick and Sarah Botstein

Pioneer PBS is teaming up with the Fagen Fighters WWII Museum and the Jewish Community Relations Council of Minnesota and the Dakotas to host a special advance screening of THE U.S. AND THE HOLOCAUST — a new PBS series directed and produced by Ken Burns, Lynn Novick and Sarah Botstein. The event will be held on Thursday, September 8 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Fagen Fighters WWII Museum Bomber Hangar’s Voices of Valor Theater and the Quonset Briefing Room where excerpts from the forthcoming three-part, six-hour series will be shown. The event is free and open to the public. Seating is limited and RSVPs are requested by calling 1-800-726-3178, emailing [email protected] or by Facebook.

Written by Geoffrey Ward, the film examines the rise of Hitler and Nazism in Germany in the context of global anti-Semitism and racism, the eugenics movement in the United States and race laws in the American south. Following the preview of the series a presentation and discussion will be led by Steve Hunegs, Executive Director of the Jewish Community Relations Council. The JCRC is the public affairs voice of the Jewish community fighting anti-Semitism and prejudice, promoting tolerance and social justice.

The Fagen Fighters WWII Museum features fully functional iconic WWII aircraft and ground equipment and vehicles as well as a WWII library and theater. Their Holocaust Boxcar Exhibit has become a major attraction in recent years.
