Using AI for Genealogy Research

In this beginner-to-intermediate level workshop, you’ll learn how the newest crop of artificial intelligence tools can reliably support your genealogy research efforts; from simple fact-finding to creating in-depth research reports. You’ll learn where these tools can safely be used, as well as where they should be avoided for now.

Mark Thompson is a professional genealogist and educator specializing in helping family historians use technology to uncover their roots. Combining extensive leadership experience in technology with his passion for genealogy, Mark makes complex technologies accessible and practical for genealogists of all skill levels. Mark frequently leads workshops teaching genealogists practical skills in Excel, Artificial Intelligence, Genetic Genealogy, and Family Archiving.
He currently serves as President of the Victoria Genealogical Society and chairs their DNA Special Interest Group. Mark also co-hosts the Family History AI Show podcast with Steve Little.
When not immersed in family history, Mark enjoys nature photography in his home province of British Columbia, Canada.
