¡Viva Sepharad! with David Harris
Vocalist David Jordan Harris (artistic director, Voices of Sepharad) will share his own journey into the Sephardic communities of the Mediterranean and teach Judeo-Spanish songs he learned in Morocco, France, Bosnia, Turkey, Spain, and Israel. David will be joined by professor and oud player Yaron Klein for this special workshop. All are welcome!
David Jordan Harris has pursued study and performance of Sephardic music throughout North America, Greece, Israel, France, Turkey, Poland, Bosnia, Spain, and Morocco. He has received numerous awards, fellowships, and commissions supporting his fieldwork and performances with Voices of Sepharad, which he co-founded in 1986 with dancer Judith Brin Ingber. Integrating his skills as a singer, actor, and dancer, David has appeared as guest artist with Zorongo Flamenco, Katha Dance Theatre, Walker Art Center, Illusion Theater, North Star Opera, Rose Ensemble, Liz Lerman Dance Exchange, Minnesota Opera, Lyra Baroque Orchestra, Ensemble Español, and In the Heart of the Beast Theatre. David was founding Executive Director of Rimon: The Minnesota Jewish Arts Council which he led until 2022 and served as cantorial soloist/music director at Shir Tikvah Congregation for 21 years.
