VOICES 2023: Honoring Cantor Barry Abelson and Celebrating the Life and Legacy of Leonard Bernstein
This year, we are thrilled to welcome Jamie Bernstein, daughter of Leonard Bernstein. Jamie is the author of the memoir Famous Father Girl: A Memoir of Growing Up Bernstein, which offers a rare perspective on Bernstein’s life and legacy. We will also welcome Broadway star Andréa Burns (In the Heights, West Side Story, Beauty and the Beast, The Electric Company). Jamie Bernstein will speak about her experiences growing up in the Bernstein family; Burns will perform some of Bernstein’s most beloved works. “I am honored to be a part of celebrating Cantor Abelson, and to be part of furthering the incredible legacy that he has built during his long and distinguished career,” said Cantor Sharett-Singer. “I am so excited to bring a bit of Broadway glamour to Temple Israel this spring.”
