Volunteer with JFCS for PRISM’s Fresh Produce Distribution
Volunteer Opportunity: Summer Produce Distribution Groups
What: JFCS is teaming up with PRISM for another Volunteers in Action event to help local families access nutritious food while supporting a program rooted in dignity, connection, and empowerment.
PRISM’s Fresh Produce Distribution provides fresh, healthy produce to more than 200 families in the community. The event takes place in an indoor, farmer’s market-style setting where community members can select fresh fruits and vegetables in a welcoming environment. The distribution is open to everyone in the community, with no zip code, residency, or income requirements.
As a group, we will support all aspects of the event, from set-up through cleanup, while helping create a welcoming experience for participants.
Volunteers may assist with:
- Setting up the indoor distribution space before the event and helping with cleanup afterward
- Distributing fresh produce and helping ensure each family receives a fair share
- Moving and transporting produce boxes throughout the event
- Assisting participants with carrying groceries to their vehicles, unloading produce, and returning carts
- Working collaboratively with PRISM staff and other volunteers to support a smooth event
- Providing language support, if able, in Spanish, Russian, Ukrainian, or Somali
