After serving in many roles at TTSP\, she served as the Director of Hineni from its inception in 2014 to 2022. She believes passionately in the importance of Jewish learning and the impact it can have on people’s lives. SUMMARY:Havdalah & Wine Tasting
DESCRIPTION:Manischewitz\, a name synonymous with square matzos and sweet Kosher wine. But there’s a lot more behind the label! \nJoin J-Pride for a special wine-and-dine evening to experience the full range of Manischewitz with your LGBTQ+ Jewish community. We’ll have a sweet start to the new week with a Havdalah service led by Jayce Koester\, followed by a how-to on wine tasting. Compare different wines from the Manischewitz label\, and pair them with vintage Passover recipes from a 1930s Manischewitz cookbook. \nRSVPs required as space is limited. This event is for those over the age of 21+ \nAt this free event\, you are invited to bring along a donation for JFCS’s emergency food boxes if you are able. Items needed and information about the program is listed below. If you prefer to donate financially toward JFCS Emergency Response\, please make your gift at this link. \n\nJFCS distributes emergency food boxes to support clients and community members experiencing immediate food insecurity. Each box contains non-perishable items and is intended to serve as a short-term food resource during times of acute need. These boxes are frequently distributed directly by our staff to clients or community members in need. Additionally\, community members can come to the JFCS office in Golden Valley and receive a food box\, no questions asked. \nThe need for emergency food boxes has sharply risen in recent months\, largely caused by changes and disruptions to federal food programs\, as well as the increased immigration enforcement occurring in Minnesota. Almost half of the boxes distributed by JFCS in 2025 were distributed between October and December. \nDonations from the community\, both monetary and food products\, help us continue providing this service to anyone in need. Here is a list of items that we are looking to receive as donations for the food boxes (please refrain from donating items in glass jars):   \n\nTomato sauce \nDiced tomatoes \nCanned Vegetables \nCanned Corn \nOatmeal \nBreakfast Cereal \nWhite Rice (1 or 2 lb. bags) \nPasta \nCanned Tuna \nCanned Chicken \nPeanut Butter \nMac & Cheese \nCanned Fruit \nSnacks (Granola bars\, applesauce\, raisins\, etc.) \nReady to eat food (Tikka Masala pouch\, canned soup\, etc.) \nDried beans \nDried lentils \nDried chickpeas \nCooking oil \nSugar (small bags preferred)\nBlack tea \nHoney

SUMMARY:Exploring Jewish Influence on Comics and Graphic Novels
DESCRIPTION:On Sunday\, March 8\, Or Emet member Dr. Richard Logan\, a retired professor of human development\, will lead a discussion inspired by the summer 2025 issue of Humanistic Judaism Magazine\, which focused on the meaningful connections between Jews and the world of comics.  \nThe event will run from 10 a.m.-noon at Twin Cities German Immersion School\, 1031 Como Ave. in St. Paul. A social time will follow. \nThe magazine issue explored the many ways Jews have shaped the comics and graphic‑novel landscape — from founding the American comics industry to pioneering the American graphic novel and continuing to influence the art and writing of the genre.  \nThe story of Jews and comics is a compelling one that involves many original and creative literary\, artistic and pop-culture achievements. Logan is especially interested in how this history offers a window into several intriguing features of Jewish culture. He looks forward to participants sharing their own experiences with comics and graphic novels. \nLogan is a past-president of Or Emet and past-president of the Society for Humanistic Judaism.  \nThose who cannot attend in person may join via Zoom. Please register in advance for the Zoom option.   \nThe Sunday adult programs are free and open to the public and meet concurrently with the Jewish Cultural Sunday School. \nOr Emet is a secular congregation celebrating and honoring Jewish culture\, history and values from a humanistic\, inclusive perspective.  \nFor information about Or Emet’s Jewish Cultural Sunday School\, contact JCSS director Molly Phipps at school@oremet.org. For information about Or Emet\, email info@oremet.org or visit oremet.org. \n

SUMMARY:JCRC Webinar: The Persian-Jewish Story – Past\, Present\, and Future
