Job Summary/Description:

Beth Jacob, an engaging and vibrant egalitarian Conservative Congregation, is looking for a dynamic individual to oversee and direct our successful youth programs for our BJUSY (9th – 12th grade), Kadima (6th – 8th grade) and BJuniors (3rd – 5th grade) groups.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Description:

The Youth Director will work with a youth board, adult advisory committee, skilled supervisors, and a committed group of adolescents in sustaining and growing the synagogue’s youth program.

Responsibilities include:

  • Mentoring/counseling students
  • Staffing weekly lounge nights and special events
  • Guiding students in program planning
  • Researching program options
  • Teaching students group and leadership skills
  • Working with teens during Saturday morning programming
  • Light record keeping (attendance, expenses…)
  • Coordinating with other regional staff for regional events
  • Recruiting for and attending regional events
  • Networking with local youth professionals for joint programming
  • Shopping for supplies, snacks, etc for programs
  • Communicating with parents and youth group members via various channels
  • Weekly staff meetings and supervision meetings

Experience and Qualifications

  • Ruach, Enthusiasm and Vision
  • Strong Judaic Background
  • Experience working with teenagers
  • Good leadership and communication skills
  • Self Directed, excellent work ethic
  • Desire to work with Jewish youth
  • Possessing outstanding personal integrity
  • Strong commitment to Israel and Israel Programming
  • Bachelors Degree preferred
  • Familiarity with budgeting
  • Personal experience with Jewish youth group work strongly preferred
