Michelle Obama To Speak At Beth El Sept. 10

Following in the line of other internationally known dignitaries, former First Lady Michelle Obama will be the next speaker in Beth El Synagogue’s National Speaker Series. Obama will be at the St. Louis Park synagogue (5225 Barry St. W.) on Sept. 10 at 7 p.m.

Tickets for the event are now on sale and expected to go quickly. The event will have a capacity of about 1,500.

The National Speaker Series began in 1998. Past speakers in this series include: Former Secretary of State Colin Powell, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, and former U.S. Senator and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

Beth El spokesperson Leah Wong said that the series was created to connect with the community – both the Jewish and secular ones.

“We’ve had a phenomenal lineup of speakers,” said Wong. “It’s a testament to the vision of Beth El and the founders of the series have had to bring this level and caliber of speaker to the community. It speaks to Beth El as a synagogue where this type of conversation can happen.”
