Minnesota Hillel Establishes Young Alumni Advisory Board

Minnesota Hillel has established a Young Alumni Advisory Board to connect Hillel’s young alumni with leadership opportunities, maintain recent graduates’ connection to the Minnesota Jewish community, and provide recent alumni with an opportunity to continue to service Hillel’s mission to enrich the lives of students so they may enrich the Jewish people and the greater Jewish community.

The Young Alumni Advisory Board is creating opportunities for alumni to connect with other alumni, both professionally and personally, to mentor students on their professional journeys, and support Minnesota Hillel’s other programmatic activity.

“The Hillel young alumni group is a fantastic way for recent graduates, many who are transplants to the Twin Cities, to stay connected to the U and the community,” said Executive Director Benjie Kaplan. “I am also thrilled that the group’s leadership has also put a heavy focus on developing a mentorship program for rising upperclassmen.”

Jake Levine, a member of Minnesota Hillel’s Board of Directors and the Chair of the Young Alumni Advisory Board, said: “Many of our young alumni board members are involved in other Jewish organizations such as YJP, JFS, Jewish fraternities and sororities, and more. One benefit of the diversity of our membership’s involvement in the wider Jewish community is that we refer each other and other university alumni to events, philanthropies, and other initiatives hosted by other Jewish organizations around town. In addition to supporting Minnesota Hillel’s fundamental mission, we’re able to complement and support other Jewish organizations.”

The initial members of the young alumni board include Matt Greenstein, Max Hendrix, Sami Rahamim, Carli Shapiro, Talor Blustin, Danielle Fink, Sydney Schwab, and Noah Farber. Composed of professionals in various Jewish organizations and synagogues and alumni with a deep connection to the various Jewish organizations on the University of Minnesota campus, the Young Alumni Board is poised to make a meaningful impact in the Twin Cities Jewish community.
