MRA Message On The Congregation Beth Israel Hostage Situation

לְ֭מַעַן אַחַ֣י וְרֵעָ֑י אֲדַבְּרָה־נָּ֖א שָׁל֣וֹם בָּֽךְ׃

For the sake of my friends and companions, I pray that peace be yours. (Psalm 122)

From the events of this past Shabbat, once again we feel shaken and saddened. Such anger and violence toward humanity, to our fellow Jews, bring us all closer into a circle of shared life. With gratefulness we are thankful the horror that could have been for Congregation Beth Israel in Colleyville, Texas has come to an end, yet the healing for Rabbi Charlie Cytron-Walker and his congregation has only begun.

We hope and pray that peace will be among all of us and our neighbors and that we each find a source of courage and comfort in the days ahead.

L’Shalom,

Rabbis Lynn Liberman, Tamar Magill-Grimm, and Debra Rappaport on behalf of the MN Rabbinical Association
