Being the new kid at Federation’s happy hour is less mortifying than being the new kid in high school.
The email read, “FW:FW:FW:. NEW JEWISH GIRL IN TOWN!!!! THIS IS A BIG DEAL! WHO WILL FEED THIS POOR GIRL FOR ROSH HASHANA?” But I didn’t get that reaction when I moved to Minneapolis last month.
I’ve been in the Twin Cities for over two months and I’ve learned a lot. I’m not embarrassed to admit, though, I had to look up a few things because I had no idea what people were talking about. Here are some lessons for the rest of you newbies.
