Don’t miss out on these hot opportunities (with upcoming deadlines) for Minnesota Jewish artists to hone artistic skills, exhibit art in the Twin Cities, and travel to deepen the understanding of the creative process, enhance current work, or create new work.
Jewish Artist Travel Study Grant. Deadline is Nov 11th at 5pm:
The Norman Ackerberg Artist Travel-Study Grant seeks to assist Minnesota Jewish artists in their professional growth through formal or informal study involving travel. Artists working in all genres of art are eligible. The grant may allow for participation in specific training programs, development of artistic collaborations or study that deepens the artist’s understanding of the creative process, enhances current work, or leads to the creation of new work. Artists must demonstrate during the application process their serious commitment to Jewish life. At the conclusion of their travel-study year the artists selected will be obliged to make a public presentation about the impact of their travel-study on themselves or on their work. The grant and public presentation are administered by Rimon: The Minnesota Jewish Arts Council, an initiative of the Minneapolis Jewish Federation.
Gallery Seeking Submissions: Deadline Nov. 16th
The Sabes JCC Tychman Shapiro Gallery is accepting submissions for Profiling: Exploring the Faces of Diversity within the Jewish Community. In a world where racial and ethnic boundaries are becoming increasingly obscured, this juried exhibit will explore how the American Jewish community is also taking on a new identity. Artists are invited to submit representational or conceptual self-portraits reflecting elements of diversity within their Jewish identity. This exhibit will examine the changing faces of the Jewish people and explore the layers of diversity that exists within the American Jewish population. Jewish origins include a multitude of languages, nations, tribes, ideologies, skin colors and paths to Judaism. Exhibit will run May 6 – June 24, 2010.
