Things are a little quiet on the calendar as we head into the holiday weekend, (TC Jewfolk would like to remind you to celebrate the holiday safely: wear your sunscreen, select a designated driver, and remember that those sparklers with the metal sticks can burn your fingers if you’re not paying attention) so this is an abbreviated version of the Alef List. Check out the events calendar for a full listing of local events or read below for my picks of the best Jew to-do’s from now until July 12th.
Remember a friend. Celebrate life. – Friday, July 2
Join NOAZIM (Mt Zion’s 20s and 30s group) to remember and celebrate the life of late NOAZIM member Andy Lindberg (z”l) who died in a May car crash. The evening starts with a brief kabbalat shabbat service followed by dinner at the north shore of Lake of the Isles (dinner will be catered and is $5). Then, head to First Ave for an 18+ memorial concert featuring Tripping Icarus, The Cold Open (with Eric Rice, husband of Noshin’ columnist Sara Rice) and other great bands. Tix to the show are $10.
Happy Hour it up with the St. Paul UJFCs Young Leadership – Thursday, July 8
The YL monthly happy hour is in Roseville for July at the Old Chicago. Join other young professional Jews (and those who love them) for a beer and apps. What better way to keep the 4th celebrations rolling than schmoozing with other young Jews on a thirsty Thursday??
