On Sunday, April 15 at 7:30 PM, three cantors will compete for the title of University of Minnesota Hillel Foundation’s Semitic Idol Champion!
Performing in three musical categories, you’ll have the opportunity to hear some of the Twin Cities’ finest cantors; Scott Bukner, Stephen Abelson, and Cantorial Soloist Maggie Burton. In addition, there is an online student competition, with a special guest appearance at the concert by the winner.
Judges will add humor and perspective to the evening: Jerry Siegel of Adath Jeshurun, Minnesota Public Radio host Mindy Ratner, and Rabbi Sim Glaser of Temple Israel. University of Minnesota student Greg Berman, back by popular demand, will emcee the evening. Join us for a pre-show reception featuring the University of Minnesota student acapella group “The Enchantments” at 7:30 PM.
Semitic Idol VII – “Magical Musical Mystery” will be held at Adath Jeshurun Synagogue in partnership with Adath’s annual fundraiser for this event. There are no physical tickets for this event.
