At the March 9, Israel mini-conference at Mt. Zion Temple, Ari Shavit was asked what Israel should do to achieve peace: “Give Yossi Beilin, Israel’s number one peacenik, the plan,” he said. “And let him run with it.”

This is the moment for pro-Israel, pro-peace supporters to demonstrate the breadth of support that exists in the American Jewish community for a two-state solution. As Secretary of State Kerry said, “Let your leaders and your neighbors alike know that you understand this will be a tough process with tough decisions, but that you’re ready to back the leaders who make them. For your children, do this; for your grandchildren, do this; for Israeli children and Palestinian children and for Israel, let them know that you stand behind negotiations that will lead to two states for two peoples living side-by-side in peace and security, and that you are part of the great constituency for peace.”
Dr. Yossi Beilin is a former Member of Knesset, Minister of Justice and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs. He is a key architect of the Oslo Accords and the Geneva Initiative. Dr. Beilin is also known for initiating the launch of the Birthright program. He has a Ph.D. from the University of Tel Aviv and is the author of numerous books on the peace process and Israeli politics. He is currently the president of Beilink, a business consulting firm that he founded in 2008.
J Street’s 2 Campaign answers Secretary Kerry’s challenge to rally a “great constituency for peace” behind the administration’s initiative to achieve a two-state solution. In particular, Kerry turned to the Jewish community to enlist our support, because he recognizes “no one has a stronger voice” when it comes to Israel.
The 2 Campaign is a concerted effort across the country to convey to Secretary Kerry that he has the support of the American Jewish community and beyond in pushing negotiations forward, especially in the most difficult moments. Achieving a two-state solution is in the American, Israeli and Palestinian national interest.
Together, we will demonstrate the resolve of pro-Israel Americans to see a two-state solution reached. We will show policymakers and political leaders that we support US leadership in helping the parties make the difficult, but necessary choices with regard to Jerusalem, borders, refugees and security.
