Volunteers Needed For:
Friendly Remote Visitors
Organization Name:
Jewish Family Service of St. Paul
Date:
Ongoing
Opportunity Summary/Description:
During this time of challenge and change, JFS is launching a special component of our service to community members who especially need human connection over the phone. Volunteer callers can make an especially important impact amid the COVID-19 crisis and the loneliness and confusion that often comes with it.
Friendly Remote Visitors reach out by telephone to individuals who might be experiencing isolation, or who would just like someone to chat with. They help ensure that the client knows that someone cares and is thinking of them, while also offering a connection to the Jewish Family Service community.
Time commitment: Expect approximately 20 minutes per call, once per week or as agreed on. An opening “script” and suggestions for discussion starters will be provided during training.
- Time commitment varies according to the agreed-upon schedule: 3-6 hours per month.
- A background check and brief, 1-on-1 or self-directed training is required for all Life Enrichment Volunteers.
Additional Information:
Russian-speaking volunteers are especially needed.
