The expansion to offer fifth grade and the addition of a new classroom teacher is the result of the increased interest and enrollment the Newman School has seen this past year, despite the pandemic. Newman School Director of Education, Heidi Tarshish said, “Parents are looking for a safe, in-person program that offers high-quality academics. In addition, what they have discovered, is the unique ability of a small school to connect academics to Jewish values and meet the needs of individual students.”
The Newman School has safely remained in-person all school year, thanks to careful safety protocols and cooperation from families. The ability to remain in-person has been crucial for our parents who needed to continue working. It has also benefitted the academic and social development of the students.
Jorie Bernhardt will be joining the Newman School faculty as the 2nd–3rd Grade Teacher. In previous years, Jorie has guest-taught other creative education programs at the Newman School. “I always loved how warm and welcoming the school is and I’m drawn to the project-based, hands-on learning,” Jorie said. “I am excited to share my passion for learning and natural curiosity with my students.”
“We are thrilled to continue growing our Newman School community. Jorie brings a new and creative approach to learning. She also has valuable experience and connections to our local Twin Cities Jewish community. We are looking forward to the upcoming school year,” says Tarshish.
The Newman School is now enrolling Elementary grades K-5 for the 2021-2022 school year. Learn more at www.ttsp.org/newman-school.
