It shapes our deeply cherished ethical values of freedom and justice. It serves as an intriguing bridge to our Christian neighbors. And its place in popular culture, from being featured on ABC, PBS, and BBC, to its starring role in one of Woody Allen’s Oscar winning films, has assured the holiday a pervasive, contemporary prominence.
