Me Want Food.
Real talk: I like food. And eating good food with good people is the best. Don’t get me wrong, I’m probably that guy you saw earlier getting parmesan cheese all over his dashboard trying to jam down a lukewarm slice of pizza behind the wheel. But my ideal night would definitely include a delicious home-cooked meal, with people who appreciate what they’re eating.
Me Watch Movie.
One hundred and twenty-one episodes into their online documentary series, The Perennial Plate, Daniel Klein and Mirra Fine certainly qualify as people who care about their food. Originating in Minnesota, The Perennial Plate is an online weekly documentary series dedicated to socially responsible and adventurous eating. The duo behind the show, travel the world exploring the wonders, complexities and stories behind the ever more connected global food system. Episodes range from eating insects, to best soil practices, to ethical and sustainable foie gras (which, if you know how foie gras is made, is pretty remarkable).
Me Make Friends.
Daniel Klein is an expertly trained chef, having worked or trained at many top restaurants in the world. He went to the best school in the country, NYU (not like I’m biased or anything), where he learned how to make movies. Mirra Fine is not a master chef. She is a graphic designer and freelance writer. She also became a vegetarian after making the first episode of the show. This coming Thursday, June 20th, they will both be the special guests of Michelle Horovitz & Adam Klarfeld and Natalie & Drew Zamansky, as part of Sholom’s annual Food For Your Soul fundraiser.
Me Win Tickets?
Would you like to meet these crazy people? Well you’re in luck, because TC Jewfolk has two free tickets to this exclusive dinner! This is an incredible deal. Sholom has been all kinds of generous to allow us to run this giveaway, and we’re very excited to send one of you to this great event. We’ll draw a winner at random on Monday. All you need to do to win is tell us your favorite thing about Sholom. (If you’re struggling, here’s some help: they do a really cool fundraising event once a year.)
