What a year for our Twin CIties Jewish community. Vitali’s Bistro started off the year on a high note, giving Minneapolis a new quality kosher restaurant. In April we all collectively held our breath after news that Temple Israel had been vandalized, but Rabbi Zimmerman reminded us that these things happen, and because of this troubling event we were reminded of how strong this community really is. In May, the passage of the Marriage Equality Bill redefined our state, our cities, and our community; and it prompted one of our most popular articles ever: the amazingly heartfelt and touching “Ian’s Happy Ending” by Sharon Rosenberg-Scholl. A former Nazi was discovered living in NE Minneapolis, the Twin Cities’ only Modern Orthodox shul officially opened its doors, and the untimely death of a boy in Chicago sent sadness rushing through our whole community.
