Job Summary/Description:

The Temple Israel Early Childhood Center and Young Family Education Director develops and ensures the consistent implementation of a cohesive Jewish early childhood and young family educational vision. The Director ensures that the Early Childhood Center staff understand and demonstrate Temple’s vision of learning in each classroom, and provides staff training, role-modeling, and coaching. The Early Childhood Center and Young Family Education Director communicates with staff, parents, congregants and community members the unique early childhood education vision of Temple Israel.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Ensures safety and security of ECC students and staff
• Oversees and manages day-to-day operations of ECC
• Develops and facilitates Temple-wide programs for families with young children including Tot Shabbat, holiday celebrations, early family education and other related programming.
• Manages budgeting process of ECC in collaboration with Finance Director, Director of LifeLong Learning, and Executive Director
• Develops long range educational vision in collaboration with Temple clergy, Director of LifeLong Learning, and Executive Director
• Works with Director of Curriculum to develop year-round ECC curriculum and ensures integration of curriculum into classroom and congregational programs
• Represents the ECC within the congregation and the community and facilitates efforts to integrate the ECC students and faculty into the Temple community
• Develops relationships with parents of ECC students and creates a community of ECC families through special programs and regular day-to-day interactions
• Develops and facilitates parent involvement opportunities

Experience and Qualification Requirements:

• Advanced early childhood education or related degree and a minimum of five years of related work experience — Masters degree preferred
• Strong knowledge of Jewish religion, ritual and practice
• Exceptional communication and organizational skills
• Extensive experience in staff management and supervision
