Job Summary/Description:
Swim Instructor
The Swim Instructor is responsible for executing development swim lessons aligned with curriculum while providing high-quality customer service.
Lifeguard
The Lifeguard is responsible for the safety of members while on the pool deck. The incumbent provides a high level of customer service and ensures a safe and positive program environment.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
MAJOR DUTIES:
- Teach various levels and age groups in accordance with the Sabes JCC instructional guidelines.
- Plan lessons, select appropriate drills, and evaluate the student’s progress.
- Present proper demonstrations and explain skills, analyze and correct performance, minimize fear, and use appropriate teaching devices.
- Maintain a safe and positive teaching environment.
- Maintain accurate records and prepare course completion certificates.
- Provide outstanding swim experience for participants and families
- Pleasant and appropriate customer service
- Provide safe water experience, including knowing and enforcing pool rules
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
- American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (or equivalent training).
OR
At least 6 months swim instructor experience.
- American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer (or equivalent training).
- Excellent communications skills
- Ability to adapt lessons according to needs of participants
- Ability to give directions and guidance clearly
- Dependable
MAJOR DUTIES:
- Project and promote a professional image, including maintaining focus and alertness.
- Customer service with guests and staff.
- Explain and enforce facility regulations, policies, and procedures to patrons.
- Rescue swimmers in need of assistance.
- Demonstrate proper rescue techniques, including but not limited to, swimming rescues, First Aid, and CPR.
- Administer emergency care to patrons in need of assistance.
- Monitor activities of patrons in the water and on deck
- Maintain a proactive focus to minimize the possibility of patron injury.
- Conduct routine chemical test of the water on a daily basis.
- Basic ongoing cleaning duties throughout day
- Keep accurate records of incident reports, maintenance, and chemical testing.
- Attend scheduled in-services and trainings
- Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be 18 years of age.
- American Red Cross Lifeguard Training (or equivalent training).
- American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer (or equivalent training).
- American Red Cross First Aid for Public Safety Personnel (or equivalent training).
- Critical thinking initiative when reacting to any situations
