Yep, we’ve hit that time of year where we need to GTFO more than ever and get that vitamin D while we still can. Luckily, we’ve got a whole month of fun leading up to American Thanksgiving… when seemingly every Jewish event planner is taking the weekend off too. And you know what? Good for them! They make all sorts of fun stuff for us to do every weekend otherwise.

“O My God!” [A comedy]
Saturday, Nov. 2 — 8 p.m. @ Highland Park Center Theater, St. Paul. $23-$38
Presented by the Minnesota Jewish Theatre Company [www.mnjewishtheatre.org], this “witty and touching play” follows a psychologist/single mother of an austistic teenager who gets unexpected new patient: God, coming to terms with his feelings toward humankind and how the world has evolved. This new comedy by Anat Gov, one of Israel’s foremost playwrights, runs through November 17. But it sure makes for a great date night to kick off the month!
“Hadassah Minneapolis & JCRC program on Anti-Semitism”
Sunday, Nov. 3 — 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. @ Adath Jeshurun, Minnetonka. FREE
Join in a discussion exploring modern anti-semitism with Hadassah Minneapolis and the Jewish Community Relations Council of Minnesota and the Dakotas, who is co-sponsoring a program about anti-Semitism. Jana Shortal from KARE 11 will moderate the panel, which will look at anti-Semitism in 2019 in schools, politics and our everyday lives.
“Who am I? Identity in Art: An MIA Tour”
Thursday, Nov. 7 — 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. @ Minneapolis Institute of Art, Minneapolis. $10
A great time for all of us daywalkers, a.k.a. those without day jobs: BOND [Branching Out in New Directions], a non-profit offering opportunity for intellectual pursuits, community service, social interaction, and philanthropy is hosting an original tour designed by docent Joanne Platt at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts. Participants explore several artworks from MIA’s collection, discovering how artists express and challenge the concept of identity.
There are two tours: 11 a.m. or 2 p.m, with stools available. Meet in MIA’s upper lobby, by the cafe/store, if you’re game!

Alright, Kingpins. Lace ‘em up and keep outta the gutter: our pals at Moishe House are setting up a night of bowling at the Minneapolis institution. Join in for some good, clean fun to either kick off your night or celebrate your day.

As Rabbi Abraham Isaac Kook said, “I am always searching for what is inside my soul.” Dianne Bloomfield leads a Sunday afternoon workshop designed to realign you on all fronts heading into the week. No previous Torah study or yoga practice necessary.
“The Great Big Challah Bake”

Break out the flour: the Great Big Challah Bake is back and bigger than ever! On November 14th, head to Hopkins High School in Minnetonka for an evening filled with inspiration, connection, dancing, and — of course — challah-making!
Join up to 500 members of the Tribe while women around the world gather together with their friends to make challah, too. You’ll walk away with two ready-to-bake challah loaves and an evening of celebration and fun under your belt. They provide the ingredients and the music — “just come ready to party,” they say. “I Sing for Bathsheba: Looking for God in Drag”

Saving the most exciting for last: The Rimon Artist Salon Series opens its 13th season with “I Sing for Bathsheba: Looking for God in Drag,” featuring playwright and performance artist Max Yeshaye Brumberg-Kraus in conversation with artist-scholar Noam Sienna.
Max is “…drawn to drag as a way to subvert conventional gender roles and to provoke self-awareness,” exploring the intersection of drag performance and texts from the Bible — especially the voices of women as written by men. This sounds like an incredible afternoon of art, philosophy and exploration. Go hit it!
