The Beastie Boys. Because they are just great.
Oscar Levant with Gershwin coming in 2nd.
Why?
Levant was more than just a composer who played with simply everyone. He was part of every medium of the day and funny too.
My favorite memory was a performance in a movie: An American in Paris (1951), where he played a bohemian pianist (a struggling composer). Note this also started my love of Gershwin.
