Folks,

It’s time for a celebration because Jewfolk is turning 13!

As we begin this BMitzvah year, we want to reflect on our past and look forward to the future. A Bar/Bat Mitzvah symbolizes a time of transition from childhood to adulthood, from learning to teaching, and from receiving to giving. Over the last 13 years, Jewfolk has grown and expanded in ways we could never have imagined, and it is all because of you and your support.

We all remember the awkwardness of the pre-teen years. Maybe you were the popular kid that had the party everyone dreamed about. Maybe you were standing in the corner of a hotel ballroom, wearing fancy clothes and shoes that were probably too tight, hoping that someone nice would ask you to dance with them. Or maybe you were one of the kids sitting in the back of the synagogue, not quite whispering, definitely catching the glaring eyes of the elders and a harsh shush that shook you to your core. No matter who you were back then, we all were looking for the same thing: a place to belong.

As Jewfolk continues to grow, we build upon our goal to connect people and deepen personal relationships, build awareness about Jewish efforts, and strengthen Jewish communities, so that we all have somewhere we belong.

Over the past year, we have continued to solidify our place in the Jewish Twin Cities with thousands of unique users to our site, 4,000 members of our online communities through Facebook, and award-winning reporting. We are even beginning to realize a goal that has been in the works for many years, to bring Jewfolk to other communities that need it.

But we are not done yet. Just as we all had unfinished dreams when we were 13, Jewfolk wants to continue doing the work to strengthen our Jewish community. We can’t do it without your help. We appreciate your support of Jewfolk and ask you to make an investment in Jewfolk this year so we can continue to provide a space for all Jews to find their place to belong!
