The Proven Path to Finding Your Family’s Town and Original Surname

The Proven Path to Finding your Family’s Town and Original Surname

It’s so tempting when you begin genealogy research to immediately jump to European
records. While that remains the goal, moving across the pond too soon can lead to wasted
time, money and lots of frustration. If you have yet to validate where in Europe your family
was from or whether your family changed their name, then this session is for you. Learn
which records are most likely to yield that elusive town name, see search strategies for
finding passenger lists and experience how the FAN network can help your search.

Join us on September 15 at 1 p.m. when genealogist Risa Daitzman Heywood will be speaking about The Proven Path to Finding your Family’s Town and Original Surname.

Risa Daitzman Heywood is a professional genealogist specializing in Ashkenazi Jewish genealogy research. She loves helping her clients solve their genealogy puzzles, especially finding that elusive shtetl name. Risa has been involved with Jewish genealogy for over 25 years. She holds a certificate in Genealogical Research from Boston University, is a past- president of the Jewish Genealogical Society of Colorado and served as co-chair of JewishGen’s original Belarus SIG.
