Jewish Archival Revival
Do you long to be taken back in time? Do you wish to learn more about history? In other words, are you already missing “Mad Men?” Well, take a number and quit whining about it already! Now on the other hand, if you are truly interested in celebrating history—specifically, Jewish Heritage Month and celebrating the days of yore—well, have I got an event for you! The St. Paul J.C.C. will be hosting an opening reception for the Nathan and Theresa Berman Upper Midwest Jewish Archives . The purpose of the event, filled with visual and oral presentations by scholars and archivists, is to illuminate attendees wishing to gain a deeper understanding of the Jewish American experience in the Midwest. My Jewish experience in Omaha involved getting staples placed down my tighty-whities and chased home from School by the fearsome, Bible-quoting bully from down the street. But hey…that’s just me. Thursday, May 28 at 6:30 p.m. St. Paul JCC.
It’s that time again, kids! P’Chotchka is back and bigger than ever!! For those who have been living under a rock (apparently, I’ve been living under a rock. Who knew?!), the annual event features features eight Jewish artists using images to illustrate what excites them or has inspired their artistic work. The event promises a “fast-paced evening of art, film, and performance.” The Metropolitan in Minneapolis. Monday, June 1st. For further information: 952-381-3449.
