Coming to a Sukkah Near You: Best Minneapolis Sukkot Events

Celebrating sukkotSukkot starts on Friday and you’re not sure where you’re going to shake that thing (the lulav, that is)? Don’t worry! We’ve rounded up some of the most kickin’ events taking place in a sukkah this weekend. The following list isn’t all-inclusive, so check out the Upcoming Events page for other Sukkot happenings!

Indie Jews is hosting Shabbat in the Sukkah this Friday, Oct 2nd. A vegetarian potluck will be held at a member’s house. Last year’s festivities included a bonfire and discussion on the Hekhsher Tzedek movement. Expect a casual and festive mood with another great discussion on a social justice topic. If you’re feeling creative before Shabbat, you’re also invited to help decorate the sukkah during the week. For more information or to RSVP, contact Carin: [email protected] or (651)632-2184.

For all you students out there – Hillel at the U of M is hosting liberal Shabbat services and dinner in the Hillel sukkah starting at 6pm on Friday. Thanks to its generous donors, students (from the U or any nearby college) are always welcome free of charge. Please do RSVP though to Hillel by e-mailing [email protected] or calling 612-379-4026.

Temple Israel’s 20’s and 30’s is hosting Sushi & Sake in the Sukkah on Sunday, Oct 4th. The 21+ event costs only $18. Not a fan of sushi? No fear – vegetarian and non-sushi items will also be served. Last year’s event drew a great crowd, so expect the same this year! For all the details and to RSVP, just click here.

Beth El is hosting two great events – Friday Night Family Fun with the Young Families Group on October 2nd . Join them for Shabbat dinner, songs, and family fun! Cost is $5 per person (with a max. of $20 per family). RSVPs are appreciated by September 30th to Barb Parks at 952-920-3512 x 119. And, on Oct 4th, it’s an adults-only Sukkah Square Dance including a hoe-down Havdallah. For more info, click here.
