To our joy or chagrin (depending on your party affiliation), Minnesota just lost the chance to get another Jew in elected office. Former U.S. Senator Norm Coleman officially announced that he would not be joining the slew of Democratic and Republican candidates vying to be my neighbor on Summit Avenue, in the Governor’s mansion.
In his Facebook statement announcing the decision, Norm Coleman wrote:
I love Minnesota and I love public service, but this is not the right time for me and my family to conduct a campaign for Governor.
Norm’s not bowing out of politics, however. Since last year he’s been working as a political advisor and strategist for the national Republican Jewish Coalition and speaking on the organization’s behalf around the country.
