Seeking Jewish Poets: Prizes Await!

Think you can slam down a poem or two? The Saint Paul JCC is challenging you to write your heart for sweet prizes in honor of National Poetry Month. Are you up for the challenge?
“The 5th Annual Tri-Lingual St. Paul JCC Spring Poetry Contest” invites you to write a poem of any form in English, Hebrew or Russian. Write on any subject, but for guidance, this year’s theme is “True.” As in (says the JCC) “To be just, to be fair, to be true. True blue, true love, true colors. To thine own self be true and start writing!”

Drop off your poem at the JCC front desk by Friday, April 30.

Winners of English language poems will be chosen in the categories of: pre-school, school-age, teen, adult and St. Paul JCC staff. There will be one winner each in Hebrew and Russian-language poems. Winners will be announced and prizes will be awarded in mid-May.

The Saint Paul JCC is actually doing a ton of things to celebrate National Poetry Month (which is pretty cool, in my humble opinion). As you visit the JCC during the month of April, check out their Poetry Wall, featuring the Poem of the Day by a Jewish poet, as well as and Poems for your Pocket that you can read and pass on. Read about the other poetry events and opportunities on the Saint Paul Jewish Community Center’s website.
