For GLBTQ Jews who may have felt or currently feel that there isn’t place for them in Judaism, J-Pride seeks to prove them wrong.
Temple Israel‘s Rabbi Jared Saks says Twin Cities Jewish organization J-Pride sends an important message to members of the GLBTQ community. “We accept you in our community,” he says. “I think the purpose of J-Pride is to provide a social and cultural and religious connection for GLBTQ Jews and their allies to be involved in the Jewish community.”
J-Pride will be continuing its welcoming, social philosophy at a Shabbat dinner at 6 p.m. on Friday, July 16th, at Temple Israel. Participants will attend service together, eat dinner and have the chance to socialize. Rabbi Saks says the dinner is a great opportunity to touch base during the summer and talk about upcoming events.
J-Pride is an organization for GLBTQ Jews and their allies in the Twin Cities and surrounding area. The group works to affect positive change in the Jewish community through social activities, educational events, spiritual opportunities, and community outreach.
