Way back in May, when it was still snowing in Minnesota (sigh….), we asked you to take two surveys for us. The surveys were something we were putting together as we applied for a series of grants to fund TC Jewfolk’s work, but we also wanted to learn the answers to these important questions to help us better serve our community with TC Jewfolk.
Because we value transparency, think you will be interested in reading the results of the surveys, and are revving up for an exciting wave of change for our organization (more on that later this week), we wanted to publish these surveys here. Enjoy, and please feel free to ask any questions in the comments.
Anonymous Readership Survey:
The first survey was an anonymous readership survey that we sent to all of you via TC Jewfolk, Facebook, and Twitter – we wanted to understand how TC Jewfolk affected your lives, why TC Jewfolk is important to you, and what do you think TC Jewfolk provides that other organizations do not.
A total of 76 people took the online survey. Of those 76 individuals, 88.16% were from the Twin Cities (Minneapolis/St. Paul metro area), 5.26% were from Greater Minnesota (outside of the Twin Cities), and 6.58% were from somewhere else in the United States. Of the responding population of 74 people, 28.38% were between the ages of 20 and 39, 45.95% were between the ages of 40 and 59 and 25.68% were over the age of 60. Out of a responding population of 75, 94.67% of individuals identified as Jewish, 4% did not identify as Jewish, and 1.33% (or 1 person) identified as other (Humanistic Jew).

Twin Cities Jewish Organization Survey Analysis:
The second survey primarily focused on identifying major themes in the responses from Twin Cities Jewish Community leaders in response to the following three questions in an online survey: 1) What impact has TC Jewfolk had on your organization? 2) What unique value does TC Jewfolk provide to our Jewish community? And; 3) Why is TC Jewfolk important to you?
I sent this survey via e-mail to 1-2 leaders/organization heads/rabbis at each of the Twin Cities Jewish community organizations, institutions and synagogues. Responses were received from 21 organizational leaders including religious leaders, executive directors of Jewish nonprofits and CEO’s of Jewish businesses.
