TC Jewfolk Christmas Guide 2016

Regardless of what is going on the rest of the year we can all sit down and say, who doesn’t love a day off? Hanukkah and Christmas overlap and we are going to live it up. Here is TC Jewfolk’s non-exhaustive list of places to go, eat, and see on Christmas and Christmas Eve.

Classics

Shuang Cheng Restaurant

If you want a massive menu near the University, look no further this Christmas.  My favorite is the chicken lo mein.

Quang Restaurant

Located in Minneapolis, this affordable Vietnamese eatery offers traditional bahn mi sandwiches, pho, and a big variety of spring rolls and small plates to share.

Hong Kong Noodle

As they state on their website, Hong Kong Noodle is a cozy little restaurant near the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. They have lots of different special noodle dishes that are always a surprise.

Suburban Eats

Mandarin Yang

This family-owned restaurant is located in the western suburbs on the border of Minnetonka/Wayzata at the corner of Hwy 101 and Minnetonka Blvd. They are open on Christmas Eve from 3 – 9:30 pm.

Other Noshin’

St. Paul Grill

We gotcha, St. Paul. The St. Paul Grill will be open on Christmas and features great American food with a steak-centric menu.

Moscow on the Hill

Russian style restaurant and vodka bar. Need we say more?

Manny’s

A staple. Get your steaks here.

Movies

“Rogue One”

Do you want to see a Star War (quote Lucille Bluth)? Well, now you can! Thanks, Disney.

“Moana”

If your children are a bit restless try Moana. Swimming in a tropical paradise sounds nice right about now.

“Arrival”

Aliens, sci-fi, etc.

“Fantastic Beasts & Where to Find Them”

If you are looking for a Harry Potter extension with even more CG, then try this movie.

“Doctor Strange”

A great one for the Marvel geeks in the family, Doctor Strange is sure to make you feel magical. I’m definitely sensing a theme this winter.

Activities & Adventures

Jewbilee 13th Anniversary

Come celebrate on Christmas eve at First Ave. and 7th Street Entry. Jewbilee will have a great selection of musicians and comedians this year. View more about the event here.

Como Zoo & Conservatory

I’m a huge fan of this one. Go see some animals or beautiful flowers (they have special holiday themes) this year at Como. It’s free and fun for the little ones, too.

Afton Alps

This fun ski slope will be open on Christmas eve from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Go have fun and get cold!

Volunteer

If you really don’t want to stuff your face with great food maybe you could donate your time to help someone else do just that. This time of year is a great one for tzedakah.

What else is open on Christmas Eve/Day that you and your family like to take part in? Let us know in the comments or on Facebook!
